The Nike Air Force 1 Rayguns is the latest colorway of the hugely-popular AF1 sneaker to be unveiled to the masses. Dedicated to Roswell Rayguns, a fictional ABA basketball team put together by Nike’s basketball division, the forthcoming rendition of the classic Air Force 1 boasts a colour arrangement heavily influenced by the team’s away jersey. Official images of the pair are now live so keep reading on for a closer look.
This is certainly not the first time we have seen the Raygun theme on Nike shoes. Initially introduced by the Nike SB Dunk Low back in 2005 then followed by a tie-dye scheme in December 2019, it is now set for a comeback early next year using Bruce Kilgore’s iconic Nike basketball sneaker as the canvas.
Working on a low top profile just like the OG silhouette, premium white leather crafts the layers forefoot, however, the entire heel panel is finished in an orange satin coating for a luxurious pop of contrast. Further accentuating the colour scheme is yellow textile basting the heel panels and borders of the black Swoosh logos on the sidewalls. A Raygun alien face basketball badge embroidered on the lateral heel then finalises the design. Down below, a crisp white midsole concealed with a Nike Air unit houses the upper offering optimum support and added durability while a black rubber outsole underneath provides traction on and off the court.
